Hold Me While I Cry, by Karen Peck
Many times in life we walk through our days numb with grief. Sorrow comes faster than smiles and counting our blessings is the last thing on our mind. Sometimes we go through hard times and it seems impossible to see that God is there next to us. It is when we want to lay down and cry, that God is the closest to us. We are never abandoned.
I remember when my children were small. Whenever they fell I was right there. I wiped their tears away and picked them up. Our loving heavenly Father is like this and so much more. He notices every tear and remembers them. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Psalm 56:8, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
The Bible says that He knows our affliction and cares deeply about our pain. He records them down in His book, so that none of our hurts have been experienced for nothing. God doesn’t waste pain. He instead is working all things out for our benefit. Romans 8:28
In Biblical times people carried around small ceramic jars to cry into when someone close to them died. When these individuals were buried the jars were placed beside them as a testament to how much they were loved. God loves us so much that He collects our tears. We matter to Him!
Someday He will review our lives with us. Holding our hands, He will show us all these recorded tears and how He was there with us, helping us through them. He longs to show us how He’s held us while we cry.
So go ahead and cry to Him. His arms are wide open for you. There is no closer place to be.
I was blessed today to find this song. It is an oldie, but a timeless goodie. Be encouraged today that you are not alone. God holds you!
